       The Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants (JPIA) Ateneo de Davao University Local Chapter is the main organization of the Accountancy student body in the university. The club realizes the need for an organization to serve as a medium of expression of ideals and aspirations, to promote and protect the interests of Accountancy students, to accept a dynamic and responsible student leadership, to attain high moral, social, and spiritual role, and to promote closer relationship among its constituents. The organization provides the students with activities and events that will encourage them to be involved and more mature in the Accountancy field.

A Star is Born: The Accountancy Course Orientation

          As part of the Ateneo First Year Orientation Program 2019, the Accountancy Course Orientation dubbed “A Star is Born” was held to provide the freshmen accountancy students the proper glimpse to their whole Ateneo college career — and even beyond — while also leveling out their expectations by breaking stereotypes, introducing the academic policies specific to the program, and introducing outlets which they showcase their hidden talents. While the main focus was to expose the students towards the details of the degree, the freshmen students were also able to showcase their talents and bonded with higher level students.

JPIA Star Hunt

        JPIA Star Hunt served as a means for the club to showcase its members’ [non-academic] talents and skills. Through the said event, JPIA was able to round up its pool of talents and search for its representatives for the Regional Mid-Year Convention (RMYC). The events of the JPIA Star Hunt included: Barkada Chillout, Siniratura (Creative Photography, Canvas Painting, Spoken Poetry, Essay, Short Story), Mobile Legends Competition, Your Face Sounds Familiar, and The Search for Ambassadors of Goodwill.

                JPIAN’s get to meet their seniors who have recently passed the CPA Lincensure Exams. Undergraduates get a boost of inspiration from the new CPAs as they tell their stories and see their seniors awarded with medals for their success in the Boards. With this activity, JPIANs are able to gather learnings on personal development in their path towards becoming CPAs.

PICPA Week

​

          A long week celebration that is full of learning from the discussion that are held annually by the (PICPA) Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Where it encourages accountancy students by embodying a heartfelt talk from the speakers and to nourish their knowledge and skills in accounting.  The organization also spice up the event with games and tournaments that are accounting-based questions.

       Regional Mid-Year Convention (RMYC) is an annual event held in the month of September wherein JPIA local chapters within the region are invited to compete in both academic and non-academic activities. Academic activities include mockboards examination, research congress and case study competition. Non-academic activities include sayawit, finest dance crew, barkada chill out, basketball, volleyball, mobile legends, etc. These activities are an avenue to hone the students’ competitive spirits and showcase their skills and talents.

       Mr. and Ms. Ambassadors of Goodwill is an annual pageant held by the Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants in search of best personality, looks and wit for young JPIANs to serve as ambassadors in promoting concerns about environmental, agricultural and social issues.The winners in the regional MMAOG will represent region 11 in the nationals. Also, this annual pageant serves as an avenue for the participants to carry out their advocacies.

         JPIA prepares tutorial sessions for its members which is called JPIA Tutorials Week. The Tutorials provides an avenue for the students to further learn about the professional subjects and reinforce their knowledge on the role of Accountants in the 21st Century World. Furthermore, the event solidifies the relationship among the students and strengthens academic learnings. It helps Accountancy students to be equipped more with the necessary skills and build rapport with one another. The Tutorials strives to have a closer relationship among students under School of Business and Governance (SBG), the Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants –Ateneo de Davao Local Chapter.

       During this time of the school year (January), the different clusters under the School of Business and Governance (SBG) unite to conduct activities that celebrate excellence in the cluster. Aside from the open-house seminar on reportorial requirements for business startups, JPIANs had fun with the opening parade, trivia wars and all the activities prepared by the SBG cluster last year.

with the CPAs

       Last November 9, 2019 at Finster Auditorium, a gathering with the 40 passers of the BSA Class of 2019 was held to congratulate them in successfully passing the October CPA Licensure Exam.  For this year, the theme is Fortitude: CPAs Breaking Through, with the hash tag #40tude. The event was full of inspirational messages and words of encouragement given by the passers as they share their ups and downs during their accountancy journey. Professors also gave their heartfelt messages full of well wishes for the passers.
